Rachel-Everard-3

My decision to train as a speech and language therapist was inspired by therapy I received for my stammering as an adult. I qualified from UCL in 1996 and after working in the NHS for the first five years of my career, I landed my dream job as a therapist at City Lit, specialist centre in adult stammering therapy in London. Together with the City Lit team, I deliver therapy to groups to adults who stammer as well as running professional development courses for qualified speech and language therapists. A few years ago, I co-edited a ground-breaking publication on different approaches to stammering called ‘Stammering therapy from the inside: new perspectives on working with young people and adults’ (Cheasman, Everard & Simpson, 2013). I have recently completed a masters in applied research in human communication disorders at UCL, and my research project focused on the impact of the City Lit therapy approach on adults who stammer.

When not engaged in stammering-related activities, I enjoy travelling, fine dining, running, baking and spending time with friends and family.

My role on the committee is treasurer, so please contact me with any financial queries which I’ll do my very best to answer. My e-mail address is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
